Below are the step-by-step instructions for reviewing your staging site and leaving feedback using BugHerd. Please follow each section carefully.

1. Once your project is ready for review, you’ll receive a BugHerd project invite in your mailbox.
2. Open the email and click to accept the invite.
3. This opens your BugHerd dashboard, showing the staging link for your site.
4. Click Open Website – your site will open with a small BugHerd tab visible at the bottom of the screen.

1. Click the BH logo tab at the bottom of the screen – this opens the feedback sidebar.
2. Click the plus (+) icon, then click on the specific element you want to leave feedback on (e.g. an image or section). BugHerd will highlight the area you’ve selected.
3. Type your feedback into the box (e.g. “Swap image out to image 2”).
4. Optional: Add an attachment if you want to include a reference image.
5. Optional: Annotate the auto-captured screenshot – draw, add text, or mark up exactly what you mean, then click Save.
6. Click Create Task to submit. This sends a notification to our dev team and adds the task to our task board.

Tip — Suggesting a text edit:

1. Highlight the text you want changed.
2. This brings up a Replace / With box.
3. Type your replacement text into the With field (e.g. “we love tennis”).
4. This lets our team see exactly which text and section you mean.

Why this matters: Every pin captures metadata – your device, browser, browser version, and screen size — so our devs can accurately test and reproduce any issues you flag.

BugHerd’s feedback tab can be unreliable on phones and tablets, depending on the device’s browser and version. Instead, please leave mobile/tablet feedback from your desktop browser using Inspect Mode:

Leave feedback exactly as you would on desktop – click the BH tab, hit plus (+), and pinpoint the exact element you’d like amended, updated, or fixed.

1. Open the staging site in your desktop browser (e.g. Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox).
2. Right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect.
3. In the panel that opens, click the device toggle icon to switch into device view.
4. Select the device you’d like to preview (e.g. iPhone 12 Pro, iPad).
